I read this quote the other day on a site I was surfing past and I had to stop long enough to really take it in!

"What we fear is not suffering or even death.
What we fear is that we have wasted life.
In our darkest moments we are afraid our highest calling will go unanswered."

~ Garret LoPorto

How does it make you feel?

I know immediately I felt an impulsive urge to 'get on with it', to move forward on living my dreams, my passions using my gifts, talents and skills! That's what is so great about quotes, you get that motivation to move forward with your life and that my friends is a good thing. What they don't tell you is that as soon as you put your foot on the road to living that dream life, 'the universe' steps in to help and you can suddenly feel like you are on a roller coaster that's moving too fast for you to take in the scenery!

This is also a good thing, however another very important facet of life comes into play right about here, that of 'right action', right choices and living mindfully. We can get so wrapped up in the ride itself we forget to focus on those things that will create the outcomes we want. We can get so wrapped up that we forget to choose, we focus on the trying and the doing and hanging on to the roller coaster as it goes round and round faster and faster, without really getting anywhere. Is this you?

I know it has been me at times. There is a famous line from the movie 'Star Wars' that is often repeated as a way to get yourself 'doing': "There is no try, there is only do." YES! this is absolutely true, but we all too often mistake trying for doing and doing for making good choices. Think about it, are you always doing; going to networking meetings, meeting with people to talk about business, on the phone, in person, running around accepting everything and any chance to be heard about your business? Do you make the mistake of thinking every opportunity is an opportunity not to be missed?

The problem with this is you may be so busy doing everything, that you are not in the right place at the right time to be offered your perfect opportunity and that is why many people end up on that roller coaster for life. Stop! and think about it carefully, look at your calendar and ask yourself if you will really miss out on the perfect opportunity at those meetings and events that you have pencilled in?

At times you can feel like a kid in a candy shop with so many choices (opportunities) and you can feel that you don't want to miss out on tasting a thing, it all looks so delicious. But like any kid in a candy shop you have a finite amount of pennies (time) so you must focus on making the 'right' choices so that you get the most out of your money, the most bang for your buck.

Look for those opportunities that require you to 'step up', those that make you a little nervous because they might require a little more than you have ever had to give before, meet with people who not only give you an opportunity, but will also get you and your business into a different league. Focus on where you want to go, not where you have been.

This has been a big wake up call for me just lately as I reassessed the people with whom I spend the most time, and the clients I have been trying to attract. I realised that most of them are from where I have been and not where I want to be, now of course adding value to people's lives is important to me, so this doesn't mean I cut all those people off. It does mean that I need to be a lot more careful about how I spend my time, who I spend it with and why!

You are at this place in your life because of of all the opportunities you either accepted or passed on.. I am going to repeat that statement:

You are at this place in your life because of all the opportunities you either accepted or passed on!

This statement becomes a way to filter a prioritise your opportunities – ALL OF THEM. Whether or not you go to that network event, present at that workshop or seminar, meet with that potential client, take on that account – all of them. You have to ask yourself is this the kind of opportunity that will take you where you want to go, does it require you to step up and out, or stay in your comfort zone, are you able to set a cost for your services that is commensurite with your abilities, skills and talents or do you feel your clients need you to keep your prices low enought for them to afford you?

Now each person who reads this will have different answers according to their personality, dreams and vision, but they are all still questions that need to be answered in life and in business. As a rule of thumb think of it this way, opportunities abound, choosing which opportunity all comes down to stretching and reaching for what you really, really want in life and where you want to be.

Personally I want to add value to people's lives and to do that for the most people, I have to create success for myself. I am now looking at the grand vision rather than the smaller dreams. The more successful I am, the more people will be able to see that anyone can do this and when I get there the more people I can help to step up into their own potential. Rather than using all my time and energy boosting them from behind which is hard work and get's me no-where, I can give them a hand up from above; shining my light on the path for them to see how and where to go, and helping them over the sticky or rough places.

I know I am and you are capable of far more than you or I have let ourselves believe and this means making sure that the roller coaster ride is not only fun, but takes us where we want to go. Slow down just a little, choose wisely according to your dreams and visions, and don't mistake lots of activity for forward movement. It all comes down to this, you are the sum of the choices you make in life, if you don't like where you are now make better choices – be mindful and take 'right action. In no time at all you will find yourself in exactly the right place to meet the opportunity of your lifetime!
